The Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of New York honored three agents recently for their work in the association and political activity on behalf of agent interests.
IIABNY said its recent Capital Event in Albany, N.Y., where the trio were given awards, was attended by 200 insurance professionals.
The session included members and meeting with state legislators to discuss industry issues such as rules governing disclosure of producer compensation, combating fraud in the no-fault auto insurance system, and insurance availability problems for homeowners in coastal areas.
During the two-day meeting the association honored the following in recognition of excellent performance during 2009:
o Ryan J. Murray, account executive with the Guilderland Agency in Albany, received the Joel S. Pollack Young Agent of the Year Award. He is the current president of the Independent Insurance Agents of the Capitol Region. He received the award for his active participation in the association and for his work with the IIABNY NeXt Generation Insurance Professionals.
o The Trusted Choice Agency of the Year Award, which recognizes an insurance agency's commitment to the Trusted Choice Pledge of Performance, went to the James F. Sutton Agency of East Islip, N.Y.
o Vincent A. Alba of East Northport, N.Y., became the first recipient of the award that bears his name–the Vincent Alba Award. This award is for individuals who make outstanding contributions to InsurPac and IAPAC, the federal and state political action committees for independent agents.
