Hamilton, Bermuda-based XL Insurance, the global insurance operations of XL Capital Ltd, said it named Patrick Tannock as president of XL Insurance (Bermuda) Ltd and country manager, effective Feb. 22.
Mr. Tannock has more than 25 years of experience in the Bermuda market and the international insurance and reinsurance industry. He spent approximately 10 years with Marsh & McLennan and 16 years with ACE Bermuda, XL said.
Most recently he held the position of executive vice president as well as chief underwriting officer and director of ACE Bermuda's specialist directors and officers subsidiary, corporate officers and directors Assurance Ltd.
A company spokesperson said by e-mail that Mr. Tannock fills "a newly defined role" within the company after a reorganization of XL Insurance.
His responsibilities were previously handled by Don Baker, chief operating officer and director of global programs, who had responsibility for the Bermuda market in addition to responsibilities within the Latin America market.
Mr. Tannock will report to Donal Kelly, XL Insurance international property and casualty regional operating officer.
