Jack McDermott, a 13-year veteran at the Florida Office of Insurance Regulation, has been appointed director of communications. He held the post of acting communications director at OIR since July 2009. He will be responsible for overall media relations, public information, speechwriting, and content of all OIR reports and publications. McDermott will report directly to OIR Chief of Staff Audrey Brown.
Reporting to McDermott will be Brittany Benner, the new deputy director of communications. She will be responsible for daily interaction with the media, drafting press releases, and coordinating media events, including arranging press access, technology support, event planning and event production.
