Sean Shaw Seeks Input

Insurance Consumer Advocate Sean Shaw will host a roundtable in January to discuss property appraisal issues. The group will meet on Wednesday, Jan. 6, from 10 am to noon and again from 1 pm to 3 pm in Committee Room 4 of the House Office Building, Tallahassee. Shaw, who has been visible and quotable since his appointment, said in a release that, "Recently, several insurance companies have amended or removed the appraisal provision from their policies. The appraisal process had been considered to be a cost-effective process for resolving claim disputes, but has been highly criticized in recent years. The roundtable will work to identify complications with the current appraisal process and make recommendations on how to improve the appraisal process so that it can again be a viable dispute resolution process."
