QBE's Americas Division said Steven L. Sheinheit has been appointed chief strategy and technology officer for the Australian insurer's U.S. branch.
Mr. Sheinheit previously served as executive vice president and chief information officer at MetLife, where he was responsible for information technology worldwide.
QBE America said Mr. Sheinheit will lead the strategy and technology team, which will develop and execute corporate and business strategies and deploy technologies across the company.
The firm said he has extensive experience in insurance and financial services and before taking his MetLife post he was executive vice president and corporate chief information officer at Chase Manhattan Bank.
"We are pleased to have Steve on board to lead this effort to align our business strategy and technology functions," said John Rumpler, president of QBE's Americas Division. "He brings a strong combination of leadership and hands-on experience to further strengthen our company's operations."
