Mr. Pollock, a current Canal Board member, will also serve as president and CEO of the subsidiary, Canal Indemnity Company, the firm said.
Mr. Pollock served previously as the president and CEO of Winterthur U.S. Holdings from 2003 to 2007. Before that, beginning in 1988, he was president of General Casualty Insurance.
Mr. Timmons joined the Greenville, S.C.-based family business founded by his grandfather William R. Timmons Sr., after graduating college. He served with the company for 37 years.
"With the outstanding people, technologies and processes that we have put in place over the last few years, Canal is in a great position for increased growth in the future," Mr. Timmons said in a statement
Canal reports it has over $500 million in policyholder surplus, is active in 46 states, and employs 225 people.
