The Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of New York Inc. said it will host a series of technology-focused workflow solution seminars throughout New York State in November.

Information about the seminars as well as specific dates and locations are available on the IIABNY Education Calendar at www.iiabny.org/edcalendar, or by contacting IIABNY's Education Department at (800) 962-7950 or edu@iiabny.org.

IIABNY said the sessions are designed to help its members improve efficiency and productivity, and attendees will have the opportunity to learn about two important "Best Practice" topics: Document Management and Comparative Rating.

Another part of the seminars will present live demonstrations throughout the day of 10 different products from technology vendors.

"These seminars are great opportunities for IIABNY members to learn about improvements that they can make in their operations and actually see different products that will help them achieve the improved workflows. I don't know of any other event that an agent can attend locally to see these types of systems," said IIABNY Technology Committee Chairperson Doug Katz.

The morning session, "Document Management--Becoming a Paperless Agency," will include a presentation on the benefits of document management as well as demonstrations by Applied and Vertafore and third-party document vendors DocStar, etfile and Paperwise, IIABNY said.

In the afternoon, "Comparative Rating--A Real Time Experience" will include a general presentation on the benefits of real time Comparative Rating as well as a discussion regarding commercial lines comparative rating and consumer rating on agency Web sites, IIABNY explained.

The listed products that will be shown are: EzLynx (Webcetera), FSC Rater (StoneRiver), PL Rating (Vertafore), SeaPass Hub (SeaPass) and Transformation Station (Applied).

IIABNY said after each seminar, audience members will be able to meet with the vendors to discuss their specific agencies' needs. The seminars are tailored to agency principals, managers, information technology staff and consumer service representatives who are interested in implementing document imaging or comparative rating.

IIABNY said it recommends that agencies send more than one employee to help evaluate the different methods and assist with the implementation of new workflows in the agency.
