The American Academy of Actuaries said it has elected Mary Frances Miller as president-elect to succeed Ken Hohman when he becomes Academy president at the close of its annual meeting Oct. 26.

Ms. Miller is a consulting actuary with Select Actuarial Services, Nashville, Tenn.

The Academy board of directors also announced the election of five officers, including three vice presidents, who will each serve a two-year term, starting with the end of the AAA's annual meeting next week.

o Andrea Sweeny, a consulting actuary and principal for Casualty Actuarial Assistance, Meriden, Conn., was elected secretary.

o John Schubert, a consulting actuary with Deloitte Consulting, Chicago, was elected treasurer

o Art Panighetti, a vice president for Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company, Milwaukee, is the new vice president of the Academy's Life Practice Council.

o Ethan Kra, a worldwide partner and chief actuary for Mercer, a unit of Marsh & McLennan Companies Inc., New York, is the new vice president of the academy's Pension Practice Council.

o Henry Siegel, a vice president in New York Life Insurance Co.'s chief actuary office, will become vice president of the academy's Actuaries Risk Management and Financial Reporting Practice Council.
