San Diego-based insurance broker Barney & Barney LLC, a past recipient of National Underwriter's Agency of the Year award, concluded its summer-long centennial anniversary celebration by awarding a quarter-million dollars to charitable institutions.

The insurance broker awarded 12 California charitable organizations with grants from The Barney & Barney Foundation, which was established in July.

In 10 weeks, Barney & Barney team members raised $260,000, passing the foundation's original goal of $250,000 set in July.

The following institutions were presented with endowments:

o Rady Children's Hospital–$50,000

o San Diego Hospice–$25,000

o Walden Family Services–$25,000

o Neighborhood House–$25,000

o RES Success–$10,000

o Orangewood Children's Foundation–$10,000

o Community Resource Center (CRC)–$10,000

o Marin Agricultural Land Trust (MALT)–$5,000

o Big Brothers & Big Sisters of Orange County–$5,000

o Mama's Kitchen–$5,000

o San Diego Symphony–$5,000

o Voices for Children–$5,000

Barney & Barney employees in San Diego, Orange County and Oakland, Calif., worked together to raise the funds for these charities.
