The National African-American Insurance Association said its 2009 National Conference, Oct. 22-23 in Chicago, is themed "New Beginnings: The Challenges and Opportunities of Change."
The meeting will bring together industry professionals to participate in roundtable discussion forums, continuing education workshops, networking and an awards ceremony honoring those who have made significant contributions to the industry.
The annual conference will take place at Chicago's Palmer House Hilton Hotel, the group said.
"The 2009 national conference will champion the use of teamwork as a key to success for African-Americans presented with (insurance) industry challenges and opportunities," Ron Allen, national chairman, NAAIA, said in a statement. "The diversity of talent and perspective embodied by NAAIA membership and supporters will further emphasize the value of collaboration."
Consistent with the goals of NAAIA, the conference will enhance and support career development for attendees representing leadership and staff from insurance agency/broker organizations and insurance companies.
"The conference is going to be exciting," said Jerald Tillman, NAAIA founder. "This year marks our 11th annual national conference which continues to build upon the strengths of NAAIA and its talented members."
Headquartered in Washington, DC, the NAAIA is dedicated to empowering African-American insurance professionals, as well as increasing their numbers nationwide, by sharing information for personal growth and professional development. It also provides opportunities for networking, continuing education and building mutually beneficial partnerships.
