The Professional Insurance Wholesalers Association of New York State Inc. said Lucas Snyder was elected president of the association at its recent meeting in Pearl River, N.Y.
Mr. Snyder, vice president of the NIF Group in New York is the son of Abe Snyder, PIWA past president and promoter of educational opportunities in the insurance industry.
The Abe Snyder Memorial Scholarship, which is given annually to a college student studying risk management and insurance, was created in his memory.
Other officers elected for the one-year term of 2009-10 include:
o Jo Ann Peri, president of Cowles & Connell of Brewster, N.Y., president.
o David W. Pietrowski, vice president of LoVullo Associates Inc. in Depew, N.Y., treasurer.
o Barry Walfish, underwriter manager at Jimcor Agencies Inc., in Plainview, N.Y., secretary.
o Gary Ricker, president of Pacific Pro Intermediaries, N.Y., immediate past president.
Established in 1978, the association is a trade association of New York state insurance wholesalers serving retail insurance producers with specialty and excess lines markets.
