PMSI, a workers' compensation market products and services provider, announced today it will provide a repair service for wheelchairs and scooters provided to injured workers.

The Tampa, Fla.-based concern said it also will provide a service to perform home modifications.

U.S. demand for personal mobility devices, PMSI said, is projected to grow 5 percent annually through 2010, and the firm forecasted this will drive an increased need for repairs.

PMSI said its repair network will provide "prompt, convenient repair services" for wheelchairs and scooters, to continue quality care for injured workers after delivery of equipment.

It said it is providing a nationwide network of nearly 1,000 certified technicians qualified under strict quality assurance guidelines. PMSI said it will perform maintenance, repair and replacement services for equipment purchased from PMSI or another provider.

The firm noted that PMSI's client care coordinators provide round-the-clock customer support, 365 days a year.

Paul DiFrancesco, PMSI Medical Services and Equipment division president, said, "We understand the challenges associated with obtaining efficient, cost-effective equipment repairs while meeting warranty and regulatory compliance. Our repair service is designed to deliver our customers both ease of use and peace of mind."

PMSI said it has expanded its program, offering a nationwide network of credentialed and bonded and licensed contractors to modify homes for workers left with disabilities.

In its new offering, PMSI will manage the project from the start--providing services integrated with hospital discharge planning with early referral, to finish--providing standardized inspections at project completion by a third-party independent home inspector.

"Innovation in these service lines is part of PMSI's strategy to differentiate itself in the ancillary services market," remarked Jay Krueger, PMSI's chief strategy officer. "By focusing on quality, cost and convenience, we will simplify the management of these traditionally challenging areas in workers' compensation."
