The Nevada Division of Insurance will hold its first "Insurance Industry Day" to improve communication with insurance industry members and help them avoid stumbling blocks when filing license applications and submitting rate form information.
Division spokesperson Maria Dal Pan Dias said there is not necessarily a specific problem with communication currently, but she said industry members may find it useful to sit down with the commissioner, the chief of property and casualty, or any other official, and find out exactly what is required to ensure the smooth processing of requests and forms.
"It will be very helpful for the industry to avoid stumbling blocks to licensing, and to having rates and forms filed," she said.
She noted Commissioner Scott Kipper has seen other states hold similar meetings with positive results in bridging communication between regulators and the industry.
The event will include presentations on recent legislation, the rulemaking process, license applications, captives, security deposits, rate and form filing, financial examinations, and achieving uniformity in producer licensing, the division said in a statement.
Attendees will also be able to hold conversations with division staff in one-on-one breakout sessions.
The meeting is scheduled for Sept. 11, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Harveys Lake Tahoe resort in Lake Tahoe, Nev.
