BURLINGTON, VT.–The Vermont Captive Insurance Association announced membership and service awards for three persons today during opening ceremonies of the group's annual conference here.

The Honorary Member Award was given to Molly Lambert, VCIA's immediate past-president.

Although Ms. Lambert has been nominated for an appointment to a post with the U.S. Department of Agriculture this spring and was expected to leave in June, she said at a press conference today that she will stay on until late October/early November to help train a new president.

Board representatives said they are in the final stages of hiring a new president and expect to make an announcement within the next month.

The Honorary Member Award is a lifetime designation given to individuals who, through an extended period of outstanding service or achievement, have demonstrated commitment and made important contributions.

Ms. Lambert also received the VCIA's Industry Service Award, presented by the board of directors, for her contributions to the captive industry.

The Captive Crusader Award, awarded annually by the VCIA staff to a member demonstrating commitment and dedication to the association through committee service and contribution on special projects, this year had two recipients: Nikki Wells of Johnson Lambert & Co. and Maria Young of Three Rivers Insurance Company.
