Teresa Miller has been appointed administrator of the Oregon Department of Consumer and Business Services Insurance Division. She has been in the post in an acting capacity since November 2008.
Ms. Miller was named to the permanent position by Department of Consumer and Business Services Director Cory Streisinger. The post became vacant when the previous administrator Scott Kipper resigned.
Ms. Miller joined the Insurance Division in July 2008, and has served as legislative director for Gov. Ted Kulongoski, a lobbyist for several businesses and organizations, and an attorney for the Oregon Department of Justice.
She said, "I look forward to continuing to work with Insurance Division staff and our stakeholders on the many diverse issues affecting the insurance industry in Oregon."
In a statement, Steve Suchil, American Insurance Association assistant vice president, state affairs, said, "We congratulate the administrator on her appointment and look forward to working with her on the critical insurance issues impacting Oregon. We anticipate that Administrator Miller will protect consumers and preserve the health and competitiveness of the insurance market. Her legal and public policy background qualify her to be a strong regulator. We stand ready to work with Administrator Miller and her staff."
