Personal lines insurer Plymouth Rock Assurance said Chris Olie has been named president of the Boston-based firm.

Mr. Olie was most recently with Progressive Insurance of Mayfield, Ohio. He replaces Hal Belodoff who was named chairman of Plymouth Rock Assurance. Mr. Belodoff will continue in his role as the president of the Plymouth Rock Company.

Jim Stone, the company's founder, will continue as chief executive officer of the Plymouth Rock Group of Companies.

"We are thrilled to have Chris join us at Plymouth Rock," said Mr. Belodoff. "He is a dynamic and creative executive who I am sure will be a strong contributor to our efforts to deliver 'More than Just Insurance' to the car driving public."

Plymouth Rock Assurance Corp. is the flagship carrier of the Boston-based Plymouth Rock Group of Companies, which together write and manage over $1 billion in auto and home insurance throughout the Northeast, the company said.
