The Risk and Insurance Management Society announced the opening of its newest chapter in Northern Nevada.
David Cisneros, director of risk management at International Game Technology, has been named president of the Northern Nevada chapter.
"Risk and insurance professionals in the Northern Nevada areas now have a close venue to interact with peers and learn the latest industry trends," Mr. Cisneros said.
Reno will be the headquarters for the Northern Nevada chapter.
The Reno-based chapter is approximately 150 miles from its nearest chapter, Sacramento Valley, and more than 400 miles from the Las Vegas-based chapter.
The Northern Nevada chapter is the first North-American based RIMS chapter founded since 1996, increasing the active number of RIMS chapters to 81, RIMS said.
