The Hanover Insurance Group announced today that John Casper has been named regional president of its emerging western region based in Denver, Colo.
Mr. Casper was formerly president and chief operating officer for Van Gilder Insurance Corp. in Denver. Worcester, Mass.-based Hanover, said Mr. Casper will lead the company's efforts to expand its footprint in the western part of the country.
"We have established strong momentum that has created increasing demand for our franchise outside of our current geographic footprint and we believe the western region represents a tremendous opportunity to grow," said John C. Roche, vice president, field operations, marketing and distribution.
Mr. Casper's experience in underwriting, sales and distribution, coupled with his knowledge of the region, "will enable us to offer great value to select winning agents in the west who are looking for a strong company partner in the commercial lines space," said Mr. Roche.
Hanover said that prior to joining Van Gilder in 2007, Mr. Casper served in sales and underwriting leadership roles at St. Paul Travelers and USF&G. Among other roles at St. Paul Travelers, he served as regional president of the west region from 1998 to 2007.
