With the appointment of two corporate senior counsels to its advisory board, the largest organization focused solely on litigation management is increasing its presence in the corporate sector.

As of June 1, 2009, the appointments of Patrick Oot of Verizon and Paul McDonald of Kraft Foods to the Council on Litigation Management's (CLM) Advisory Board will be official. In addition, CLM will establish a Commercial Litigation Committee, which will create and implement a platform for collaboration and education among CLM members who manage commercial litigation.

CLM already has numerous working committees to focus on various issues. The council has developed free training programs and events to foster collaboration and professional networking, and it offers an approved attorney panel, which is accessible via an online directory or executive-managed referral network.

Mr. Oot is Director of Electronic Discovery and Senior Litigation Counsel at Verizon in Washington, D.C. Inside Counsel Magazine named Verizon's e-discovery team as one of the ten most innovative legal groups of 2006 and 2007. He has extensive experience in discovery practices involving commercial litigation, regulatory filings, and antitrust matters.

Mr. McDonald is currently Senior Counsel in the Corporate and Legal Affairs Department of Kraft Foods at headquarters outside Chicago, IL. Mr. McDonald provides antitrust and sales counseling for Kraft's North America Sales, and Global Supply Chain, organizations, and also supports marketing, corporate governance, and acquisition and divestiture functions.

"The appointments to our Advisory Board and formation of the Commercial Litigation Committee are intended to fortify the tri-partite relationship," said Domenick DiCicco, Zurich's SVP, chief legal officer and CLM advisory board chairman. "We welcome these accomplished corporate officers to further promote the depth, diversity, and experience of the board, whose members include top insurance and corporate executives."

CLM also announced that Advisory Board member Michael Boutot will be leaving his post to focus on his new business endeavors. "Michael was instrumental in the growth of the Council," said Adam Potter, CLM executive director. "We value his past contributions and look forward to his continued involvement."
