Piracy attacks on shipping will be the key topic when marine underwriters convene next month for the American Institute of Marine Underwriters conference in New York, the organization announced.

The 18th Biennial Marine Insurance Issues Seminar on May 6 will feature John Burnett, author of "Dangerous Waters: Modern Piracy and Terror on the High Seas," giving a keynote address on modern-day piracy.

John Woods, partner, Clyde & Company, U.S. LLP, will review legal and insurance coverage issues involving piracy attacks.

AIMU said other presentations will address coverage changes, increased claims costs and monitoring exposures affecting the energy insurance business; regulatory issues; and cargo accumulation and modeling.

The meeting will be held at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York. More information and registration is online at http://208.112.59.37/MARINE%20INSURANCE%20ISSUES/MarInsIssProgram09.htm
