Fort Worth, Texas-based insurance broker Higginbotham & Associates said it has acquired Key & Piskuran Insurance Agency, LLC, of Arlington, Texas. Financial terms were not released.
Key & Piskuran is a property-casualty insurance agency and bond broker that provides risk management services to commercial entities with a practice that is grounded in the public sector, serving Texas municipalities and school districts, Higginbotham said.
Carrol Key founded the property-casualty insurance agency in 1983, and Bill Piskuran joined him shortly thereafter to form Key & Piskuran, with Larry Gallemore named a partner in 2004. The firm employs a staff of six with revenues of $1.2 million.
Higginbotham said it is aggressively expanding its operations throughout Texas by aligning with insurance firms that have strong footholds in their local markets or niche practices. The firm has made a number of acquisitions over the past 15 months, expanding into Houston, Wichita Falls, Henrietta, Granbury and Waco, Texas.
Higginbotham was the first recipient of National Underwriter's "Commercial Insurance Agency of the Year" award in 2002.
