Commercial insurance clients are facing increased risks and regulatory scrutiny which are creating opportunities for Aon brokerage, the firm's chief executive said.

Greg Case, president and chief executive officer of the Chicago-based brokerage firm, said no matter what the size of the client, all are seeing myriad perils and regulation that they have never seen before, making the risk environment ever more challenging for them.

His comments yesterday were made during a CNBC interview.

"This, for us, is a time to bring forward the best of Aon," said Mr. Case. "We're a global firm with global capability, and we're in a very unique position. So, for us, we see tremendous opportunity right now," regardless of the size of the client.

Mr. Case said in response to the financial troubles at American International Group his firm set up a crisis team to explain what was happening at the insurance conglomerate to clients.

He said the brokerage helped clients "understand what the real opportunity was for them to continue with AIG, what the risks were associated with it, and how they could get through the AIG crisis that was really positive for them."

When it comes to risk, Mr. Case noted there is no single area of risk that stands out in the world. Risk, he said, differs with each client's need. He said the measurement of risk depends on what the company is trying to do and what it is trying to accomplish.
