Black Mold Exposure is a feature documentary that delves into the controversy surrounding toxic mold and chronicles its devastating impact on people from various walks of life. The film, which is slated for release on April 18, follows Michael Roland Williams, filmmaker, and his girlfriend Karen Noseff in their struggle to regain their livelihood and well being after unknowing exposure to high levels of molds in Noseff's Dallas apartment.

A growing number of people from all ages and socioeconomic brackets have asserted that mold made them sick, producing an influx of insurance claims in years past. However, some physicians, lawmakers, and medical associations dispute the validity of these claims. The majority of the symptoms of those claiming mold-related illnesses can stem from any number of other afflictions. To complicate matters, there are currently no standardized methods to quantify exposure levels and the length of exposure conducive to producing detrimental health effects. Thus, the mold war wages on.

"A lot of people, including experts and people in the general public, [believe that] mold cannot cause illness," Williams said. "It made Karen and me allergic to the entire world, even indoors."

According to Noseff, she was unable to work and dropped out of her second year of law school because of illness directly linked to her apartment's mold infestation. Also unable to work, Williams produced and directed the film from a desk in the living room of Noseff's grandmother's home.

The film will premiere at Landmark's Magnolia theatre in Dallas. Screenings are also scheduled for April 21 and 22 in Dallas; April 28, in Austin, Texas; May 12 in San Diego, Calif.; May 14 in Boston, Mass.; May 19 in Seattle, Wash.; May 26 in Houston, Texas; and June 16 in Chicago, Ill.
