Johnston, R.I.-based FM Global said today it has opened a Netherlands insurance branch office in Amsterdam, to meet the growing insurance and loss prevention engineering needs of the Benelux region.

FM Global, one of the world's largest commercial and industrial property insurers, said it has been servicing clients in the area for more than 40 years.

“The opening of FM Global's Amsterdam office is part of our long-term focus on serving businesses operating in the region, especially as they expand their global capabilities,” said Henk Fleurke, FM Global operations vice president and Benelux branch manager, who will manage the new office.

“Also, this will enable FM Global to offer additional insurance capabilities to local companies, particularly in the European chemical sector,” he added.

The new office is located within the SOM Building, a newly constructed office block situated in the Amsterdam financial center.

FM Global said it now has 61 offices worldwide and serves about one of every three FORTUNE 1000-size companies and similar size organizations in more than 130 countries. In Europe, the company employs more than 800 people in its 12 offices.
