Marsh Insurance brokerage said it has named Kenneth Kwok as Hong Kong chairman.

Mr. Kwok, the announcement said, will report to Paul Wilkins, chief executive officer for Greater China, and work beside Marsh Hong Kong CEO David Jacob.

A company spokesman said in an e-mail that this is a new position within the company.

Mr. Kwok, Marsh said, has over 40 years experience in all aspects of insurance, from broking to underwriting in Hong Kong and internationally.

Most recently, Mr. Kwok was chairman of Falcon Insurance Hong Kong, a unit of Canada's Fairfax Financial Holdings, and previously held senior positions at HSBC Non-Life Holdings, Lombard Insurance Group and Jardine Insurance.

Mr. Kwok will focus on unlocking Marsh's potential in Hong Kong, forging new relationships within the local business community and further strengthening the team currently in place, Marsh said.

“Hong Kong is a market where Marsh has the potential to grow even further, providing significant value to businesses of all sizes and across all industries,” said Mr. Kwok. “Risk and risk management is clearly taking a front seat in 2009 for businesses in Asia against the backdrop of unprecedented global uncertainty.
