The Zurich Financial Services Group said Richard Merski has been hired away from American International Group to serve as the company's top Washington lobbyist with the title of senior vice president.
Mr. Merski, who previously managed Washington and government affairs activities for AIG, has over 25 years of experience in Washington D.C. as a congressional aide as well as in the private sector, the company said.
Zurich, said he will be responsible for providing overall strategic direction, guidance and leadership for the federal legislative and political affairs of Zurich Financial Services Group U.S.
The Zurich Financial Services Group, in the United States, is composed of Illinois based Zurich North America Commercial, New York City based Zurich Global Corporate/North America, and Los Angeles based Farmers Group Inc.
Mr. Merski with AIG held the title of vice president of corporate affairs.
