Sun Belt Insurance & Associates Inc., of Waco, Texas, was acquired by insurance broker Higginbotham & Associates Inc., of Fort Worth, Texas. Terms of the deal were not released.
Sun Belt, founded in 1988, deals in commercial property and liability insurance, bonds, employee benefits and individual life and health. The current 16-person staff will continue with the firm. Higginbotham's Waco office, which deals in employee benefits, will move into Sun Belt's current office, the company said.
"Our alliance makes custom insurance solutions even more accessible," said Sun Belt principal Mike Simon. "We will use Higginbotham's carrier relationships and in-house expertise to give customers more options while still delivering Sun Belt's trademark personal service."
"This partnership supports our vision to become the recognized authority for insurance and financial services in the state, or what we call 'the Best in Texas,'" said Higginbotham President and Chief Executive Officer Rusty Reid.
"We align ourselves with firms that share a similar commitment to customer service, employee relations, community development and entrepreneurism. Sun Belt fits squarely into our vision," explained Mr. Reid.
Higginbotham was the first winner of National Underwriter's "Commercial Insurance Agency of the Year" award in 2002.
