The Toa Reinsurance Company of America, the Morristown, N.J.-based subsidiary of Tokyo-headquartered Toa Reinsurance Company Ltd., announced that Edward J. Stanco has been appointed as its chief executive officer.
Mr. Stanco, who was also elected to the company's board of directors, will be replacing Terry Van Gilder, who has served as CEO since August 2003, the company said. Mr. Van Gilder will remain with the company and serve as non-executive chairman of the board.
Mr. Stanco, who most recently was president and CEO of Folksamerica Reinsurance Company, has 36 years of experience with the U.S. international insurance and reinsurance industry.
