The Risk and Insurance Management Society Inc. (RIMS) announced today that Joseph A. Restoule will take the helm as president for the 2009 term, effective Jan. 1.
Mr. Restoule, leader of risk management at NOVA Chemicals Corp., has served on the RIMS board of directors since 2001 in various capacities, including vice president and secretary. He also is president of the Canadian-based William H. McGannon Foundation, a member of the founding board of governors of the Institute of Risk Management and a frequent lecturer at the University of Calgary.
In 2004, Mr. Restoule received the Donald M. Stuart Award, RIMS's highest honor for risk management in Canada.
Other officers joining Mr. Restoule on the RIMS 2009 board are:
o Terry Fleming, director of the division of risk management at Montgomery County, Md., will serve as vice president.
o John R. Phelps, ARM, CPCU, CBCP, director of business risk solutions at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida Inc., will serve as treasurer.
o Scott B. Clark, AAI, risk and benefits officer at Miami-Dade County Public Schools will serve as secretary.
Newly elected members of the board are:
o Robert Cartwright Jr., loss prevention manager, Bridgestone Retail Operations, LLC.
o Frederick J. Savage, director, risk management, Chevron Corporation.
The following members of the RIMS board were re-elected for the 2009 term:
o Janet E. Barnes, risk manager, Snohomish County PUD No.1.
o John Hughes, director, risk management, Alex Lee Inc.
o Daniel H. Kugler, assistant treasurer, corporate risk management, Snap-On Inc.
o Deborah M. Luthi, director, enterprise risk management Services, Matheson Trucking Inc.
o W. Michael McDonald, director, risk management, Quality Distribution Inc.
o Richard J. Roberts Jr., corporate risk manager, Ensign-Bickford Industries Inc.
o Wayne Salen, director of risk management, Labor Finders International Inc.
o Nowell Seaman, manager, risk management and insurance services, University of Saskatchewan.
o Carolyn M. Snow, director, insurance risk management, Humana Inc.
o Janice Ochenkowski, (Ex Officio) managing director, Jones Lang LaSalle Inc.
