The New York Alliance Against Insurance Fraud (NYAAIF) has elected John Sargent, Met Life Auto & Home special investigation unit director, to a one-year term as chairman.

Mr. Sargent and other board members were elected during NYAAIF's 2009 Annual Meeting on Nov. 17 in New York.

Ellen Melchionni, president of the New York Insurance Association, was elected as NYAAIF's 2009 president.

Others elected to one-year terms include:

o Jim Berrigan, special investigations unit manager, Crum & Forster Insurance, elected as vice chair.

o Jack Houston, special investigations unit manager, New York Automobile Insurance Plan, elected as treasurer.

o Kevin O'Connor, special investigations unit manager, Interboro Insurance, elected as secretary.

Those elected to three-year terms as directors include:

o Jim Berrigan, special investigations unit manager, Crum & Forster Insurance.

o David Covino, director special investigative unit, Unum.

o Thomas Kelleher, special investigation manager, Nationwide Insurance.

o Kurt Lloyd, Northeast special investigations unit regional manager, Progressive Group of Insurance Companies.

o Richard Long, senior vice president, Farm Family Casualty Insurance Company.

o Carmen Russo, assistant vice president investigative services, John Hancock Life Insurance Company.
