Thomas C. Ramsey, Liberty International chairman and president, will retire in mid 2009 and will be replaced by David H. Long, now with Liberty's commercial unit, the company said.
Mr. Ramey has headed Liberty International since 1998. Mr. Long is currently president of Liberty International's commercial insurance business unit.
J. Paul Condren, currently president for personal lines, will become president of commercial lines, and Timothy M. Sweeney, who is now executive vice president of distribution for personal lines, will become president of personal lines.
"These moves result from a long-term succession plan," said Edmund F. Kelly, Liberty Mutual Group's chairman, president and chief executive officer. "We are fortunate to have an exceptionally strong group of executives who have helped the company grow profitably over several years. Each one of them brings proven skills and valuable experience to his new role."
