The Council of Insurance Agents & Brokers said its Foundation for Agency Management Excellence (FAME) has awarded 10 college students $5,000 scholarships for the 2008-2009 academic year to pursue careers in risk management and insurance.
The new scholarships will go to:
o Vanessa Contreras, a senior at the Katie School of Insurance and Financial Services at Illinois State University in Normal, Ill.
o Jon Perry, a senior at the Katie School of Insurance and Financial Services at Illinois State University in Normal, Ill.
o Taisha Ferguson, a senior at Howard University in Washington, D.C.
o Da'Monique Sonnier, a junior at Howard University in Washington, D.C.
o Grant Everett, a junior at the University of Georgia Terry College of Business at Athens, Ga.
o Dara Vaughan, a senior at the University of Georgia Terry College of Business at Athens, Ga.
o Anya Rokni, a junior at the University of Wisconsin Madison, Wis.
o Garret Larson, a senior at the University of Wisconsin Madison, Wis.
o Jasmine Cox, a junior at California State University at Sacramento, Calif.
o Allison Kotchevar, a senior at California State University at Sacramento.
In addition, Frederick J. de Grosz, chairman of FAME, said the scholarship program has expanded to include the Katie School of Insurance and Financial Services at Illinois State University in Normal, Ill.
Illinois State is the fifth university to benefit from the FAME scholarship program, which began in 2006.
