Pauline Colvin was named chief risk officer at Aon Ltd., the London-based brokerage unit of insurance broker Aon Corp. headquartered in Chicago.

Ms. Colvin was previously chief risk officer for Skandia; group risk director at Royal & Sun Alliance, and director of risk, compliance and internal audit at Pearl Assurance. She has also worked as a financial controller and, early in her career, worked as an auditor at Coopers & Lybrand.

"Aon is very fortunate to have someone of Pauline's caliber and experience coming aboard," David Mead, chief operating officer of Aon Ltd., said in a statement. "Ensuring we have the right processes in place to truly embed effective risk management as an integral part of our firm's culture is vital."

The firm also announced that its captive insurance unit, White Rock, with operations in key domiciles including Bermuda, Gibraltar, Guernsey and Luxembourg, has re-domiciled White Rock Insurance (Europe) PCC Ltd (White Rock Europe) to Malta from Gibraltar.

Aon said the move "enhances White Rock's ability to meet the exacting needs of clients, broadening their domicile options for protected cell activities."

While similar to Gibraltar in terms of access into the European Union, Malta offers both existing and new clients low net tax costs and a comprehensive network of double taxation treaties.
