William N. Lindsay III, president of employee benefits for the Denver office of Kansas City, Mo.-based insurance broker Lockton Companies, LLC, was one of three private-citizen recipients of the National Governors Association Award for Distinguished Service to State Government.
Mr. Lindsay was nominated for the award by Colorado Gov. Bill Ritter based on his more than 20 years of exemplary service to the state of Colorado in the area of health care policy. He recently served as chairman of Colorado's Blue Ribbon Commission for Health Care Reform. The commission studied and established health care reform models for expanding coverage, especially for the underinsured and uninsured, and for decreasing health care costs for the state's residents.
The awards were presented during the National Governor Association's centennial meeting on July 13 in Philadelphia.
Other recipients of the private citizens award were Bill Anoatubby governor of the Chickasaw Nation in Oklahoma, and A. Scott Anderson, president and chief executive officer of Zions First National Bank in Utah.
