Bermuda-based Ironshore Inc. announced it has hired Robert Piller to serve as president of its new IronSelect branch.
The company said Mr. Piller was previously a senior vice president at Zurich North America Insurance Company for 10 years and was also vice president at Odyssey Reinsurance Corp.
Mr. Piller as president of the newly created excess casualty facility will be responsible for building the company's platform and expanding its product collection, Ironshore said.
IronSelect will write excess umbrella casualty for midsize commercial risks such as manufacturing accounts, retail and wholesale operations, and contractors, the firm said.
Mr. Piller will report to Greg Flood, chief executive officer, Ironshore Holdings Inc., in New York where IronSelect will be located.
