London-based insurer Beazley Group plc said that Group Finance Director Andrew Horton will succeed Andrew Beazley as chief executive. Mr. Beazley was named deputy chairman of Beazley Group plc. The changes will take effect Sept. 1.

The company also announced that Johnny Rowell, executive director of Beazley Group, will be leaving the company.

The company said it has initiated the process of selecting a replacement for Mr. Horton.

“I have every confidence in Andrew Horton as my successor and believe he is the best person to lead the company going forward,” said Mr. Beazley in a statement.

He noted that Mr. Horton, who joined the group as finance director in 2003, has “extensive financial services experience.”

Mr. Horton said he is “excited by the challenges ahead as we look to build on Beazley's success and continue to grow and develop the business in new markets.”
