Miami-based wholesale insurance broker Howden announced it is launching a new wholesale brokerage division for the United States.
Howden is the broking arm of the Hyperion Insurance Group based in the United Kingdom. The firm was established two years ago to focus on wholesale broking and underwriting opportunities in Latin America.
In addition to Miami, the company said it has offices in Argentina, Brazil, Colombia and Puerto Rico and is considering adding additional offices both in the U.S. and abroad.
Howden said it will offer retail brokers a global network of offices and specialist liability and crime products including:
o Professional liability–errors and omissions
o Management liability–directors and officers, employment practices, pension trust liability
o Crime for commercial and financial entities
o Cyber liability
o Medical malpractice
Howden said it has recruited Kenia Delgado as a director of the U.S. Broking operations. Ms. Delgado has held various positions within the management liability and professional liability underwriting sector for financial institutions and middle market commercial businesses at American International Group and The Hartford Insurance Company. She recently served as assistant vice president of FirstCity's wholesale broking division in New York.
