The International Insurance Society said "Meeting the Global Demand for Insurance" will be the theme of its 44th annual seminar in Taipei, Taiwan, which more than 500 insurance executives from 50 countries are expected to attend.
Thirty insurance leaders from various nations are due to be on the program July 13-16, at the Grand Formosa Regent. The event is presented in cooperation with the Financial Supervisory Commission of Taiwan.
IIS said the meeting program will address the most pressing issues facing the global insurance industry, including regulation, human capital, growth and distribution, as well as challenges in assessing risks "in a turbulent and rapidly evolving environment."
"These issues are central to maintaining a competitive edge, whether you operate in a mature or developing market, are a global or a local player, an insurer, reinsurer or brokerage firm," said a statement from IIS Chairman Brian Duperreault, president and chief executive officer of Marsh & McLennan Companies.
Mr. Duperreault commented that he has attended the IIS annual conference for close to ten years running "and can attest firsthand to the value of participating in the dialogue."

The Financial Supervisory Commission was established on July 1, 2004 to promote an integrated financial supervision. The primary objectives of the commission are to consolidate the supervision of banking, securities and insurance sectors, and to act as a single regulator for all of these industries.
