Professional Insurance Wholesalers Association of New York State Inc. said its meeting next month will provide sessions offering education on ethics, good faith dealing, the subprime mortgage situation, and current legislation and regulations.

The Glenmont, N.Y.-based group said its Midyear Conference will be held May 7-8, at the Hilton Pearl River, Pearl River, N.Y.

Gary Ricker, president of PIWA, said that "part of what makes insurance wholesalers successful is their ability to stay on top of what's going on in the specialty marketplace. The PIWA Midyear Conference offers participants the opportunity to do this and more. In two days, members will acquire a great deal of information and tools they need to help them successfully run their businesses."

PIWA said on May 7 there will be a golf outing followed by a dinner where the Service to the Industry Award will be presented to Thomas Mulligan, executive vice president for underwriting and marketing, Western World Insurance Group.

May 8 a keynote breakfast is scheduled to hear Mary Ellen Rozzell, president of the National Association of Professional Surplus Lines Offices Ltd., discuss insights and ideas gained from almost 50 years experience in the wholesale insurance industry.

The three education programs, which are approved for New York state continuing education, will be held May 8.

More information about the 2008 Annual Convention and registration is available by contacting PIWA's Education & Conference Department at (800) 424-4244, or via e-mail at conferences@pia.org. A registration form is available online at www.piwa.org/promo_midyearconference_08.pdf.
