Jill Husbands has been appointed chairwoman of the Bermuda Insurance Development Council (IDC) Conference Subcommittee, the organization announced today.

Ms. Husbands, who heads the Bermuda office for captive management operations at Marsh brokerage, replaces Peter Strong of IMG Ltd., who is retiring.

Ms. Husbands also chairs the Bermuda Captive Conference (BCC), which takes place June 16-19 at the Fairmont Southampton Resort in Southampton, Bermuda.

Last year the conference attracted about 500 attendees, including more than 100 captive owners and other risk managers.

Ms. Husbands joins a team of insurance professionals who volunteer their time and energy–as well as the resources of their respective companies–to help promote IDC initiatives, the organization said.

The subcommittee determines IDC's participation at overseas conferences and sponsorship of industry conferences in Bermuda.

Roger Gillett, IDC chairman, welcomed Ms. Husbands, remarking, "It is tremendous that we are able to bring the organizational and managerial skills that Jill has exhibited with the Bermuda market's annual captive conference to the IDC efforts at external conferences. She has already been an asset to us in many ways."

He also applauded the efforts of outgoing Chairman Peter Strong, noting, "We were happy to find Jill, as we expected some difficulty in replacing the level of involvement that Peter so enthusiastically brought to the table."

The Bermuda IDC is a market-driven arm of the Insurance Advisory Committee (IAC)–appointed by the Bermuda government to provide advice on the insurance and reinsurance industry.
