Marsh & McLennan Companies Inc. said Ben Allen, the chief operating officer of Kroll, MMC's risk consulting and technology group, has been named Kroll's president and chief executive officer.
Mr. Allen succeeds Simon V. Freakley, who will serve as CEO of a newly formed MMC corporate advisory and restructuring unit.
Both Mr. Allen and Mr. Freakley will report to Brian Duperreault, president and CEO of New York-based MMC.
Mr. Allen, based in New York, has managed Kroll's daily operations since being appointed COO in July 2007.
He was president of Kroll Ontrack, the firm's legal technologies and data recovery unit. Prior to Kroll's acquisition of Ontrack, Mr. Allen was president and CEO of Ontrack Data International Inc. and served in several roles for that firm, including COO and general manager for the United Kingdom and France.
Mr. Freakley served as president of Kroll's corporate advisory and restructuring group prior to his appointment as president and CEO of Kroll. He has more than 20 years of experience as a corporate advisor.
