The National Association of Mutual Insurance Companies said topics at its upcoming annual meeting will include leadership issues; understanding technology; and effectively dealing with legislators, the media and the public.

The association's 113th annual convention will be held Sept. 28 to Oct. 1 at the Philadelphia Marriott Downtown.

NAMIC said the conference will feature both property-casualty and farm mutual concurrent sessions. The p-c sessions will be spread out over two days.

Nicolas Boyon, senior vice president, Ipsos Public Affairs, will kick off the meeting with a discussion of public perceptions of the insurance industry as revealed by a survey of 25,000 persons.

Other sessions will include one on technology led by Craig Webber, managing director, insurance practice at Celent; a session on working with local legislatures led by Neil Alldredge, NAMIC's vice president, state and regulatory affairs; a session on media relations led by Mark Firmani, president of Firmani & Associates; and a number of sessions and panel discussions on issues involving leadership.
