The Arizona Insurance Information Association, in an effort to expand their reach, said it has changed its name to the Arizona Insurance Council.

“The new name goes beyond information dissemination to an aggressive education outreach where our audiences live and work,” said Ron Williams, executive director of the re-branded AIC.

“The new AIC is building partnerships to improve public safety and reduce insurance losses that ultimately benefit consumers,” he added.

Under its new name, the group plans to engage in education efforts and to form partnerships with safety and loss mitigation groups in the state.

AIC said its board of directors hopes to take a more proactive stance in reaching out to insurance consumers in the state to enhance the understanding of insurance and the protections it provides in everyday life.

Along those lines, the group announced a new Web site aimed at consumers, azinsurance.org, to offer consumer access to information regarding homeowners and auto insurance as well as other property and casualty lines. Among the information posted on the site is a link to help parents and their children understand the state's new Teen Driver Safety Law, which takes effect July 1.
