Kevin Kelso was named executive vice president and chief marketing officer for Los Angeles-based insurer Farmers Group Inc. The new position will bring sales, advertising and marketing under one title, a company spokesman said.
He previously held the position of vice president and president of personal insurance, a position now held by Jeff Dailey, who was named to the post earlier this month.
"Kevin and the personal insurance team have been key contributors to the growth we are experiencing today through innovation and the introduction of new products, and I can think of no one better suited to fill this role," said Paul N. Hopkins, chief executive officer of Farmers Group, in a statement.
Mr. Kelso joined Farmers in July 1999 as vice president of personal lines research and development and held positions in Farmers' product management and state operations groups before becoming president of Farmers Personal Insurance in 2002. In 2007, he was promoted to executive vice president.
Mr. Kelso represents Farmers as the chair of the Insurance Research Council's advisory board and the vice chair of the Institute for Business and Home Safety.
