Mathis Cabiallavetta, vice chairman for Marsh & McLennan Companies Inc. office of the chief executive, will retire Sept. 1, the company announced today.
Mr. Cabiallavetta, 63, joined MMC in 1999, the company said. He was chairman of UBS AG, which he joined in 1971. He is a member of the boards of directors of Altria Group Inc. and BlackRock Inc. Mr. Cabiallavetta is also a member of the advisory board of General Atlantic Partners in New York.
Upon his retirement, he will join the board of directors of Swiss Re. He will continue to serve MMC as chairman of its International Advisory Board.
"Mathis has made an invaluable contribution to MMC during his nine-and-a-half years with us, and we greatly appreciate all he has done to help MMC, particularly internationally," said Brian Duperreault, president and CEO of MMC. "We congratulate him on his appointment to the Swiss Re board, and are especially pleased that we will continue to benefit from his insight and experience as he leads our International Advisory Board."
