The Miami-based Charter Lakes Marine Insurance, one of the nation's largest marine insurance brokerages, is offering policyholders premium discounts when they install a Guardian Seatrax global positioning satellite system on their marine crafts. Guardian Mobility Corporation is an Ottawa, Canada-based company that specializes in the GPS system. The Seatrax system automatically monitors the location of a seagoing craft any time it is moved from its berth. The information is then relayed to the boat owner and the authorities.
Charter Lakes Marine exclusively offers insurance products for owners of seagoing crafts. The coverage is available for owners of personal boats, yachts, and other marine equipment designed for personal use. The brokerage also offers a wide range of products for commercial craft such as charter craft, diver, and snorkeling boats. Other products are offered to fishing guides, sightseeing tours, and excursion businesses. The brokerage has more than 15,000 policyholders.
