Towers Perrin, the Stamford, Conn.-based consulting firm, said it is expanding its reinsurance brokerage business in France and has named two executives to manage the operation.

The firm said it has appointed Serge Mussard as managing director and Daniel Schlegel as executive director.

Towers Perrin said its Paris-based reinsurance operation offers traditional reinsurance brokerage services to the insurance industry bundled with risk management advisory services for clients looking for more integrated solutions.

"By leveraging the deep analytical expertise and industry-leading thought leadership of Towers Perrin's Tillinghast insurance consulting business, we will offer clients a truly comprehensive approach to enterprise risk management that is unmatched by our competitors," said Bill Eyre, Towers Perrin Reinsurance business managing director.

Tricia Guinn, Towers Perrin Risk and Financial Services managing director and segment leader, said, "France presents an excellent opportunity for Towers Perrin in both reinsurance broking and insurance consulting."

Ms. Guinn added that the firm is positioned to help companies address risk management in the context of overall capital management, which will be increasingly required as Solvency II, the updated set of regulatory requirements for insurance firms that operate in the European Union, come into effect.

She said the firm will "continue to look at growth across Continental Europe, building on both our ongoing commitment to client service excellence and strong global network of insurance industry expertise."

Mr. Mussard has more than 20 years of experience in the reinsurance industry and was formerly a managing director at Guy Carpenter. Mr. Schlegel, a former head of Partner Re's Marine and Energy Offshore unit, was also a managing director at Gen Re.
