London-based Beazley Group plc said it has expanded its political risks team in Singapore to grow its business insuring engineering risks in the region.
The firm said it has appointed Crispin Hodges to head the Singapore subsidiary Beazley Pte Ltd. Mr. Hodges previously ran the political and credit risks division of Lloyd's broker Glencairn Ltd.
Beazley said Mr. Hodges will report to Adrian Lewers, head of the Political Risk and Contingency group at Beazley in London.
Mr. Lewers commented, "Singapore is an important crossroads in some of the fastest growing economies in the world. We are delighted that Crispin will be helping us take advantage of these opportunities."
Beazley's insured risks in Singapore are underwritten for the account of the Beazley syndicates at Lloyd's. The company's property group has a Singapore underwriting team writing engineering business in the region.
Beazley's Political Risk and Contingency group is a leading insurer of political risks and contingency risks (principally event cancellation) in the London market. The team also underwrites a growing political violence account, including terrorism.
