Wausau Insurance said Susan Doyle has been named president and chief operating officer of the Wausau, Wis.-based company to succeed Mark Fiebrink, who will retire Feb. 1.

According to the company, Ms. Doyle joined the insurer in 2004 as a senior vice president and has served as Wausau's executive vice president for field operations since 2005. In that role she had responsibility for all Wausau agent/broker divisions and Wausau Signature Agency.

She has nearly 28 years of experience in property and casualty insurance, all working with agents and brokers. Prior to joining Wausau, she held senior executive positions with Arch Insurance Group, Kemper Casualty Company, CIGNA and ACE.

Ms. Doyle said she sees her new post as an “opportunity to lead Wausau at a very exciting time. Under Mark Fiebrink's leadership, Wausau has done very well in the marketplace and is financially strong. Wausau's underwriting standards, market position and relationships with agents, brokers and policyholders will not change.”

Wausau Insurance is a business unit of Boston-based Liberty Mutual Group. Wausau comprises the operations of Employers Insurance Company of Wausau, Wausau General Insurance Company, Wausau Business Insurance Company and Wausau Underwriters Insurance Company.
