Thomas V. Ealy, Willis North America's chief operating officer, has been tapped to lead the brokerage's growing commercial and consumer segments for both the U.S. and Canada, the company said.

Mr. Ealy will continue in his current role until a successor is named, Willis said, and he will relocate to Chicago.

A spokeswoman said his new title will be executive vice president, Willis North America. He will perform both duties and retain his COO title until a new COO for Willis North America is found.

Mr. Ealy was chosen for this position because of his involvement in engineering the acquisition of InsuranceNoodle, a Web-enabled platform that serves small and medium-sized enterprises, the brokerage said.

The commercial segment includes not only small and medium-sized enterprises but also MGA and affinity programs, public entity risk pools, and group captives. The consumer segment includes personal lines insurance for high-net-worth individuals and families along with affinity groups.

In Mr. Ealy's nearly six years with the firm he led the Chicago and Milwaukee offices and helped to create and then lead the client advocate professional development program in North America.
